Client: European industrial company

The Assignment:

The client had developed novel technology but was struggling to successfully commercialize it. The company had gone public soon after start-up but its market capitalization had subsequently dropped by half. There was an urgent need for cash, along with the need to come up with novel ideas for bringing in a joint-venture partner. DestinHaus was brought in largely based on our expertise in this industry. The client’s industry happened to be one of our core industry focus areas. Our mandate was to come up with a transformational strategy to turn the business around and make it sustainable.

Results:

After studying the specific needs of the client and the competitive landscape, we conducted a series of intensive brainstorming exercises. We then came up with two major ideas for joint venture projects with reputable partners. The client had not thought of these before. (In the interest of brevity and confidentiality, we are not providing details in this document.). In addition, we brought the relevant companies to the table, introduced them, laid out the potential projects and got all parties extremely interested in proceeding further.

Both projects are now in the detailed negotiations phase. Each of the projects has a value of $100 million and could significantly change the future of the client company. Each project represents a significant percentage of the client’s market capitalization.
